1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup flour
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 T flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup coconut
1 cup nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour once before measuring, then sift again. Cream butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar until smooth. Add 1cup flour and mix to a crumbly mass. Pat evenly into a 8" square pan well buttered and bake until pastry is delicately browned 300º for 20 minutes. Remove from oven. Beat eggs until light and lemon colored. Add 1 cup brown sugar and vanilla. Mix. Add 2 T flour which has been sifted with baking powder and salt. Add coconut and nuts. Spread over baked pastry and bake at 350º for 25 minutes. May be iced by mixing together:1 cup powered sugar, 1 tsp softened butter and 1 T orange or lemon juice. Cool bars before icing
