Meatballs:
4 T butter
6 T finely chopped onion
1 lb ground beef
1/4 lb ground lean pork
1/2 c soft bread crumbs
1 egg beaten
2 t sugar
1 1/4 t salt
1/2 t nutmeg
1/4 t allspice

Gravy:
3 T all purpose flour
1 t sugar
1/2 salt
1/4 t pepper
1 c water
1 c cream

Directions:
Meatballs: heat butter in large heavy skillet over low heat. Add and cook onion over medium heat until golden yellow, stirring occasionally. Mix together lightly the onion and ground beef, pork bread crumbs, egg and a mixture of sugar, salt, nutmeg, and allspice. Shape into 1" balls. Heat 2 T butter. Add the meatballs and brown over medium heat. Shake pan frequently to brown evenly and keep them from being square. When thoroughly cooked, remove meat balls to warm serving dish, keep warm while making gravy.
Gravy:
Add to the fat in the skillet a mixture of flour, 1 t sugar, 1/2 tsp salt and pepper. Heat until mixture bubbles and flour is lightly browned. Remove from heat; add gradually, stirring in, a mixture of water and cream. Cook rapidly, stirring constantly until mixture thickens, do not boil. Cook 1 to 2 minutes longer. Pour gravy over meatballs in dish.
