2 c. dried green split peas
1 meaty ham hock
2 small carrots, peeled and thinly sliced
1 med. onion, chopped
1 rib celery, thinly sliced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 med. bay leaf
1 t. salt
1/8 t. pepper
6 c. hot water
2 c. hot milk

Directions:
Directions:
Layer in a slow cooker, in order, peas, ham hock,
carrots, onion, celery, garlic, bay leaf, salt & pepper. Pour in water. Do NOT stir.

Cover & cook on high for 4 to 5 hours or on low for 8 to 10 hours or until peas are very soft and ham hock is tender.

Remove ham hock and bay leaf. Cut meat from bone; dice and return ham to soup in slow cooker. Stir in milk. Cover and cook on high for 30 minutes or until heated through.
