2 c all purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c shortening or butter
2/3 c milk

Directions:
Directions:
In medium mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt. Using a pastry blender or fork, cut shortening into flour mixture till the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gently push flour mixture to sides of bowl and pour milk into center. Using a fork, stir the mixture until the mixture forms a soft dough.
On a lightly floured surface, pat dough to form a 2 1/2 inch round ball.
Transfer to an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until done, at 350º. Brush with butter. Serve
