Beat together
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
2 tsp vanilla
Make a paste of by cooking together
1 cup milk
5 T. flour

Once paste is cooled add a little at a time while beating into the sugar and butter mix.

This frosting is great on the apple cake. You have to use butter or it just does not work, believe me I tried margarine and it was a mess.
