1/2 c shortening
1-1/2 c sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 c thick unsweetened applesauce
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
2 c flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 c raisins

Pre-heat oven to 350F. Sift together dry ingredients and set aside. Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly. Add eggs and beat well. Add applesauce and sifted dry ingredients. Beat smooth and fold in raisins. Bake for 45-60 mins.

This is another recipe that belonged to Nana's mother. I remember as a child Nana making this cake often. Our mom made it allot too. It was always good without icing.
