2 1/2 Cups Sifted Flour
1 2/3 Cups Sugar
2/3 Cup Shortening
1 Teaspoon Salt
3/4 Cup Milk
4 1/2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
5 Egg Whites
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
1/2 Cup Milk

Directions:
Directions:
Beat the flour, sugar, shortening, salt and 3/4 cup milk in a mixing bowl at medium speed for 2 minutes.

Add the baking powder, egg whites vanilla and 1/2 cup milk and beat and additional 2 minutes.

Pour into two greased and floured 9 inch cake pans.

Bake for 30 minutes at 360 F.

Use any kind of icing.

Grandmama says it is "extra good".

This cake was topped with coconut icing and won the blue ribbon at the fair.
