8 oz. - fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 T. - vermouth
¼ c. - unsalted butter
½ tsp. - garlic salt
1 lb. - ground beef
1 - green pepper, seeded & diced
1 small - onion, diced
¼ c. - half & half
salt
pepper, freshly ground
4 slices - cheese (provolone, Jarlsberg, Swiss OR Brie)
4 - English muffins, split & toasted
mayonnaise OR Dijon mustard

Directions:
In a frying pan, melt butter and sauté the mushrooms until soft, add vermouth and cook until the alcohol has evaporated. Add garlic salt, set aside and keep warm. Combine beef, bell pepper, onion and half & half. Season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly. Form 4 patties from meat mixture. Cook patties on grill or stove top in skillet. During the last few minutes of cooking, place cheese slices on patties, cover and allow cheese to melt. Assemble hamburgers by spreading English muffins with mayonnaise or Dijon mustard. Add meat and a spoonful of the sautéed mushrooms.
