Directions: |
Directions:In a small bowl, whisk together the Italian dressing, soy sauce, chicken base, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and MSG until well combined.
Place the chicken thighs in the slow cooker and pour the sauce mixture evenly over the top.
Cover and cook on LOW for about 5–6 hours, or until the chicken is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork. Avoid cooking much longer than necessary so the chicken stays juicy.
Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and set aside briefly.
Stir 2 tablespoons butter into the hot sauce until melted and smooth. Taste the sauce. If you want it a little richer and more mellow, stir in the remaining tablespoon of butter.
Shred the chicken into large, tender pieces or slice it, then return it to the slow cooker and gently toss it with the sauce.
Cover and let the chicken sit in the sauce for about 10 minutes before serving.
Serve generously over hot cooked rice, spooning extra sauce over the top. |

Pairs Well With: Buttered white rice, Garlic rice, Roasted broccoli, Green beans, Caesar salad, Warm rolls or garlic bread
Flavor Secrets:
The Dijon doesn’t make the sauce taste mustardy. It adds depth and helps tie the tangy dressing and savory ingredients together.
The MSG gives the sauce a fuller savory flavor without needing extra salt.
Chicken thighs work especially well here because they stay juicy and tender during the long cook.
Texture Tips:
Stirring the butter into the sauce at the end softens the acidity of the dressing and makes the sauce richer and smoother.
Don’t shred the chicken too finely. Larger pieces stay juicier and hold onto the sauce better.
