1 cup cooked prunes, pitted and chopped
1 cup prune liquid (use cooking liquid; add water if needed)
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons melted butter or oil
1½ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Directions:
Directions:
Pour hot prune liquid over baking soda; let cool.
Add beaten eggs, sugar, and melted butter or oil.
Sift together flour and salt; stir into liquid mixture.
Fold in chopped prunes and nuts.
Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.
Bake at 350°F for 50–60 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack.
