½ cup warm water
2 packages active dry yeast
½ cup lukewarm milk
½ cup sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 eggs
½ cup soft shortening
7–7½ cups sifted flour

Directions:
Directions:
Measure warm water (about 110°F). Sprinkle yeast over water and let stand until foamy.
Stir in lukewarm milk, sugar, salt, eggs, and soft shortening. Mix well.
Gradually add sifted flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Knead until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
Cover and let rise in a warm place (about 85°F) until doubled, about 1½ hours.
Punch down dough and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
Divide into desired amounts and shape as tea rings or rolls. Proceed with filling and baking as desired.

Baking Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F

For Tea Rings:
Shape filled dough into rings and place on lightly greased or parchment-lined baking sheets.
Cover and let rise until nearly doubled, about 30–40 minutes.
Bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.
Cool slightly before glazing or icing.

For Sweet Rolls:
Place filled and cut rolls in greased baking pans.
Cover and let rise until puffy, about 30 minutes.
Bake at 350°F for 18–22 minutes, until lightly golden and set in the center.
