1 cup chopped dates
1½ cups boiling water
1 teaspoon baking soda
1½ cups sugar
1 cup butter
1 cup walnuts
3 eggs
2½ cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Add baking soda to boiling water
Pour soda water over dates; cool.
Cream butter and sugar; add eggs.
Add dates, nuts, flour, and baking powder.
Pour into greased loaf pan
Bake at 325°F for 60–70 minutes
