2 pounds white potatoes
1/2-pound green cabbage, quartered
6 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
6 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon minced onion
3 tablespoons cream
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
Peel potatoes. Place in a large pot and cover with cold water. Cover and cook for 1/2 to 1 hour, until soft. Using a slotted spoon, remove potatoes and set aside. Cook cabbage and bacon in reserved water until cabbage softens. Drain and discard bacon. Pass potatoes and cabbage through sieve. In a large saucepan melted butter. Add onion and sauté until opaque. Add cream, milk and seasonings. Stir over low heat. Add potatoes and cabbage. Heat thoroughly; do not boil. Serve hot.
