2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
⅔ cup shortening
½ cup milk
3 medium baking apples; peeled, cored, and cut in half.

Sift together the dry ingredients and then cut in the shortening using a table fork or a pastry fork until coarse crumbs form.

Add milk all at once and stir just until the flour is moistened.

On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out to 18x12 rectangle. Cut into six, 6-inch squares.

Place a prepared apple, cut in half, on the each square. Sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg, dot with oleo. Moisten the edges of the pastry and bring the edges to the center, pinch edges together and place in an uncreased baking pan at least one inch apart.

Pour the syrup over the dumplings and then sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Bake in a 375ºF oven for 35 minutes.

¼ teaspoon nutmeg
3 Tablespoons Oleo

Mix together the sugar, water, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and add the oleo. Let oleo melt and stir. Pour over prepared apple dumpling dish.
