Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2-3 lbs. beef roast – with some fat for added flavor
2 packages Kroger’s frozen vegetable soup mix
2 small turnips – diced
2 C. cabbage – shredded
2 potatoes – diced
1 can diced tomatoes
1 large can tomato juice
1 T. sugar
Salt and pepper to taste (I use a lot of each.)

Directions:
Directions:
Place beef roast in a large stock pot. Cover the meat completely with water. Cook on low and simmer until the meat is tender. Keep adding enough water to keep the meat covered while cooking. Partially cover the pot with a lid. After the meat is tender, remove it from the broth and set it aside to cool. Add remaining ingredients to the boiling broth. After the meat has cooled, trim off the fat and discard it. Cut the meat into small chunks and add it back to the soup. Simmer on very low for about 4 hours with a lid partially covering the pot. Add additional water throughout the 4 hours, depending on how thick or thin you prefer your soup.
