2 cups buttermilk
1 cup sifted flour
¾ tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. melted shortening
1½ cups corn meal
2 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Add melted shortening to milk and beaten egg. Sift together dry ingredients; add to first mixture. Stir slightly. Pour into well greased pan. Bake at 425º for 20 to 25 minutes.
