1 Quart strawberries (rinsed, hulled, and sliced)
3 T sugar
1 1/2 T balsamic vinegar
course ground black pepper to taste

Rinse, hull and slice strawberries

Place the sliced strawberries in a medium non-reactive bowl (such as a glass bowl)

Allow the berries to macerate in the vinegar sugar mixture for about 15 minutes.

Sprinkle the berries with the sugar and balsamic vinegar, toss gently to coat

Add 4 to 5 grinds of coarse black pepper to the berries and toss to coat.

Allow the flavors to blend for about 5 minutes.

You can go wild with ways to serve these strawberries. They are great over ice cream and toasted pound cake, delicious in a summer salad with crumbled goat cheese or gorgonzola or enjoy them with a bit of whipped cream or lightly sweetened mascarpone. Enjoy
