1 ½ Tbsp active dry yeast (2 pkgs) 1/3 C sugar
2 ½ C warmed milk (2 ½ min. in mic.) 1 ½ tsp salt
3 Tbsp melted butter 1 ½ tsp freshly ground cardamom
5 C white flour Butter, melted

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, add yeast, milk and butter and stir until yeast is dissolved. Sift in 4 cups of the
flour, sugar, salt, and cardamom. Beat batter until glossy. Add 1 cup more flour. The dough will
be very soft. Cover and let rest for 15 minutes. Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface and
knead until elastic and glossy 8-10 minutes adding up to 1/3 C more flour. Put in lightly greased
bowl, turning so both sides are greased. Let rise until doubled, about 1 hr. Punch down, divide
into 2 rounds, brush with butter and place on parchment covered cookie sheet. Let rise until
doubled. Bake at 375 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
