1 lb Italian Sausage
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 14.5 oz cans diced tomatoes
2 14.5 oz cans tomato sauce
1 12 oz can tomato paste
1 cup water
2 t sugar
2 bay leaves
1 T dried oregano
1 T dried basil
1 t salt
1/4 t cayenne pepper

Directions:
Brown meat,onion& garlic. Add remaining ingredients& mix thoroughly. heat to boiling, reduce to simmer. Cover & cook, stirring occasionally. Cook 2 to 4 hrs. Makes about 3 qts of sauce. Freezes well.

This isn't a Thompson recipe but my family’s’ favorite for spaghetti, lasagna etc. we always keep some in the freezer. I cook for 2 hrs. It is a no-fail recipe if you follow exactly.
