1 can (1 lb 5 oz) Cherry pie filling or see instructions for making filling
1 - 9 oz package white cake mix (Jiffy)
¼ cup margarine (soft)
½ cup chopped nuts, if desired


Cherry Pie Filling:

1 - 16 ounce can tart pitted water pack cherries
½ cup sugar
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp margarine or butter
1 tbsp lemon juice
8 to 10 drops red food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Spread pie filling in 8x8 square pan.
Combine cake mix and nuts in bowl.
Add soft margarine and mix until crumbly.
Sprinkle over top of pie filling. Bake 45 to 50 minutes until golden brown.


Cherry Pie Filling:

Drain cherries, reserving liquid. Combine sugar and cornstarch in saucepan. Cook and stir until mixture thickens and boils. Add butter, lemon juice, food coloring and cherries. Heat thoroughly.
