Apple Bars Recipe

Dough:
2½ c flour
1 Tbsp sugar
1 c shortening
1 egg yolk (reserve the white for later)
Milk

Apple mixture:
6 apples, peeled and cut up
1 c sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
3 Tbsp flour

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour sugar and shortening. Beat egg yolk and add enough milk to equal ⅔ c liquid. Add to above ingredients to make dough. Kneed well and cool.

Roll out half of the dough to fit 11x15” pan or press into greased and floured pan. Place cut up apple mixture over crust and dot with butter. Roll the remaining half of the dough on plastic wrap and place over the apples. Beat egg whites and brush crust. Bake at 350º for one hour. While still warm, drizzle with powdered sugar and cream frosting.
