4 Tablespoons melted butter, oil from fried chicken, or bacon grease
4 Tablespoons flour
2 cups milk
Salt and pepper to taste





*This can be doubled for more gravy.

Directions:
Directions:
In a pan, add butter, chicken or bacon grease. Add flour, salt and pepper, keep stirring for 1-2 minutes to fully cook out the raw taste of flour.

Add about 1/2 cup of milk, whisking well to incorporate it. Add some more milk and whisk again. Repeat with the rest of the milk.


*Serve with mashed potatoes or serve over warm biscuits.

My mom always made this gravy to serve with fried chicken, mashed potatoes and fried corn, with homade biscuits.
