1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 cup jam (blackberry or boysenberry are good)
1 cup buttermilk
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon allspice
2 whole eggs
2 egg yolks (use whites for icing)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add jam. Add 2 eggs and 2 egg yolks. Sift flour, soda, cloves, cinnamon, allspice. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk. Pour into 2 greased and floured round cake pans. Bake at 350° for approx. 25 - 30 min. or until top springs back when touched. Cool 10 minutes in pan. Turn out on cake rack and cool completely.

I grew up next door to my Aunt Pearl and her family. Both families had boysenberry vines for many years and Mom and Aunt Pearl made lots of jars of boysenberry jam. Aunt Pearl was a fantastic cook and this is one of the delicious desserts I remember eating often at her house.
