1 cup butter
1½ cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2⅔ cups flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixer, add sugar a little at a time to butter. Add eggs and vanilla then blend until fluffy.
Whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
With mixer on low add the above to the sugar mixture a little at a time until well blended.
Put in fridge for about 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400º
Whisk together the 4 tablespoons of sugar and ground cinnamon in a salad bowl.
Roll dough into balls about 1½ inches in diameter. Roll in above mixture.
Place on cookie sheet 2" apart.
Bake 6-8 minutes and place on cooling rack.

One of my favorite memories is making these with my granddaughter, Sienna Boone. Having baked a bunch for a high school fund raiser, she turned out to be the expert. The trick of putting the dough in the fridge before forming into balls is all her!
