2 Cups sugar
1/2 Cup light corn syrup
1/2 Cup water
1/4 teaspoon cream of tarter
3/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
3/4 to 1 teaspoon red food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, corn syrup, water and cream of tarter; stir until sugar dissolves. Cook, without stirring to a very hard-ball state (265º. Remove from heat and add peppermint extract. Divide in 2 portions; add coloring to 1 part. Pour out on greased platters. When cool enough to handle pull each part separately. Form in ropes and twist read part around white. Cut in 8 inch lenghts and form in the shape of candy canes.
