1 large egg
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cornmeal
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
3 medium green tomatoes

Directions:
Directions:
Slice tomatoes in 1/3 inch slices. Combine 1/4 cup flour, cornmeal, salt and pepper. In another dish, combine egg and buttermilk. In third, place remaining 1/4 cup flour.

Starting with plain flour, dredge tomato slices. Dip in egg mixture and then dredge, again, in cornmeal mixture.

Heat 1/4 to 1/2 inch oil in skillet. Fry tomatoes 2 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels on a rack. Sprinkle with salt.
