6 cups sliced, peeled, cored apples
1 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 package powdered pectin
½ cup thinly sliced and seeded lemon ( about 1 medium)
4 cups sugar (can use brown sugar)
2 teaspoons nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
1. Combine apples, water and lemon juice in a large saucepot.
2. Cover, simmer for 10 minutes.
3. Stir in powdered pectin.
4. Bring to boil, stirring frequently.
5. Add lemon slices and sugar, stirring until sugar dissolves.
6. Return to a rolling boil. Boil hard for 1 minute, stirring frequently.
7. Remove from heat. Skim foam if necessary.
8. Stir in nutmeg.
9. Ladle hot preserves into hot jars, leaving ¼ inch headspace.
10. Adjust two-piece caps until finger tight.
11. Process 10 minutes in a boiling water canner (large pot with water that covers jars).
