1 qt. whole milk (or half and half)
2 cups bread cubes
2 eggs
¼ tsp. nutmeg
¼ cup sugar
1 T. vanilla
½ tsp. salt
4 T. butter
optional: raisins

Directions:
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350º. Grease 1½ qt. casserole.
2. Heat milk until tiny bubbles appear on edge.
3. Remove milk from heat, stir in bread crumbs and set aside.
4. Break eggs in casserole. Beat slightly with fork. Stir in sugar and salt.
5. Slowly stir in milk mixture, then nutmeg, vanilla and butter (dot across the top)
6. Set casserole in baking pan. Fill with water to within 1 inch from top of casserole.
7. Bake at 350º for 75 min. or until knife comes out clean.
8. Serve with Vanilla Sauce (with brandy).

Exchange plain bread cubes for left over muffins like blueberry, applecinnamon, etc. or Challah. For the sauce, exchange warm maple syrup. Whipped cream over Vanilla Sauce with brandy is yummy!
