1 c shortening
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1 tbsp cocoa
1 3/4 c flour
1 tsp soda
1 c hot water
1 c raisins, or dates
1/2 c nuts (optional)
Coconut
Chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add rest of ingredients putting soda in the hot water. Pour into 9x13" pan. Sprinkle coconut and chocolate chips on top. Bake in a 350° oven for 40 minutes. Best when still warm.
