2 1/2 pounds ground venison
2 large onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
2 packages chili mix
1 tablespoon steak sauce
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon basil
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon red pepper
24 ounces tomato juice
2 cups applesauce
2 16-ounce cans red kidney beans, undrained

Directions:

  1. Saute onion & garlic; add ground meat & brown. Add chili mix, steak sauce, chili powder & spices. Add tomato juice. Cover and simmer on low for 2 hours. Stir occasionally, from the bottom.

  2. Add beans & applesauce; mix well. Uncover & cook until it begins to thicken, about 1 hour.


Best when made the day before.
