2 lbs potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 medium onion, chopped
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
2 cups ham, cubed
6 tbsp butter
4 cups milk
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp marjoram
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Put butter in pan and saute the onions until soft but not brown.

Add flour and stir to make a roux. Add milk and stir constantly until it comes to a gentle boil. Reduce heat and let sauce simmer for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in marjoram, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

In buttered 2 qt casserole dish, put layer of potatoes, salt and pepper, ham, cream mixture, onions. Start over and repeat the layer.

Bake at 350º uncovered for 45 minutes
