"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 pks Pillsbury crescent rolls
2 apples
cinnamon/sugar
1/2 C butter
1/3 C sugar
1/3 C brown sugar
1 C orange juice
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish. Peel, core and cut apples in half, then in quarters or if it is a large apple, cut in eights. Unroll crescent rolls and lay on flat surface. Dip apples into cinnamon and sugar mixture. Wrap each apple wedge in a crescent roll so it is completely encased in the dough. Arrange evenly in prepared dish.

In a small saucepan over medium heat orange juice, sugar, and butter. Cook stirring, until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour over dumplings.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

NOTES:
- Use Gala, Honey Crisp, Golden Delicious.
- Can omit orange juice and pour a 7-up or Mt Dew around the side of the casserole dish.
- This is good with sliced fresh peaches also.
