1 1/2 pound ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup chopped green pepper
1 29 ounce can diced tomatoes (I use mini-diced)
1 16 oz. can Bush`s dark red kidney beans, drained
1 16 oz. can Bush`s light kidney beans, drained
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
1 teaspoon salt ( can add more to taste)
1 to 2 teaspoons chili powder (add more or less to taste)
2 cups water
2 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, add more or less to taste)



Directions:
Directions:
In large pot, cook meat, onion, and green pepper until meat is lightly browned and vegetables are tender. Drain.

Add tomatoes, beans, tomato sauce, salt, chili powder and sugar. Add water adjusting to how much liquid you want in the chili.

Taste chili and adjust seasonings to your personal taste.

Cover and simmer for 1 hour.

I used this recipe for my family from Better Homes and Garden Cookbook (Red and White Check Cover) that I received from a Bridal Shower Grandma Terpstra gave for me. I adjusted the recipe a bit: In the cookbook it is called Chili Con Carne.

*I use this chili to make my wet burritos recipe.
