1 C butter
1 C white sugar
1 C brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 2 T water
1 tsp salt
2 C flour
2 C oatmeal (quick)
1 C raisins, coated with 2 T of flour
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Important to follow these directions!

Dissolve soda in water and set aside. Cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Add eggs and beat well. Add flour, salt, soda "water" and vanilla. Blend well, add oatmeal and raisins. Drop by scant teaspoons onto parchment lined cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. They really spread!

Bake 7-10 minutes. These cookies will "fall" in center when done. Cool on baking racks. When storing, place wax paper between layers for storing.

This recipe is so old. All I can say is mother used to make these and I continued with my family and it is still an all time favorite next to Ginger Cookies. You can’t quit eating them.
