1 (3 oz) cream cheese
2 T butter
1/4 C sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 T flour
1/2 tsp vanilla
BROWNIE MIX
1 (4 oz) pkg German sweet chocolate bar
4 T butter
2 eggs
3/4 C sugar
1/2 C unsifted flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp almond extract
1/2 C chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9x9 inch pan that has been lined with parchment paper.


1st: CREAM CHEESE FILLING
Cream butter and cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add sugar, creaming until light and fluffy. Stir in 1 egg, flour and vanilla. Set aside.

2nd: BROWNIE MIXTURE:
Break up chocolate and melt with 4 T butter over very low heat or in microwave about 1-2 minutes. Stir after 1 minute. Cool.

Stir together flour, salt and baking powder and set aside. Beat eggs until fluffy and light in color. Gradually add sugar. Fold in dry ingredients until blended, add chocolate and blend well. Stir in nuts. REMOVE 1 cup of batter and set aside.

Pour rest of batter into prepared pan. Drop cream cheese mixture over chocolate batter. Drop the additional 1 cup of chocolate batter over cream cheese. Gently swirl the mixtures together with a knife just to have a marbling effect.

Bake 35-40 minutes. Cool and remove from pan and cut into squares. Store any leftovers in refrigerator.
