1 prepared pastry pie shell
1 1/3 cups sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup cocoa
1 2/3 cup evaporated milk
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup broken pecan pieces

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, flour, and cocoa in a 2 quart saucepan.

Gradually stir in evaporated milk.

Cook and stir over medium heat until thick.

Cook and stir over low heat for 5 minutes.

Stir a small amount of hot mixture into the egg yolks.

Return this mixture to the saucepan.

Cook and stir until very thick.

Remove from heat.

Stir in pecans and butter or margarine and vanilla.

Cool 5 minutes.

Spread in prepared pie shell.

May be served as is or covered with meringue.
