1 cup white fine ground cornmeal
1/2 cup self rising flour
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp onion powder, optional
Oil

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oil in deep fryer to 375º.

While deep fryer is heating, mix ingredients together. Mixture should be slightly thicker than pancake batter. If mixture is too thick, thin out with milk. If too thin, thicken with cornmeal. Grease a tablespoon. Drop tablespoons into hot oil and cook 3-5 minutes. The hushpuppies will pop up to the surface when done on the bottom. Flip them over and cook another 30 seconds. Drain on paper towels.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
I have a hard time making these because people sneak hushpuppies off the paper towels while I am still cooking!
