Chicken thighs/ legs = ½ kg
Onion (finely chopped) = 1 medium size
tomatoes = 4-5 whole
yogurt (optional) = 3-4 tb sp
coriander seeds = 1 tsp (dry roasted and roughly crushed)
Cumin seeds = 1 tsp (dry roasted and roughly crushed)
crushed red chilies = ½ tsp
black pepper = ½ tsp
salt = to taste
cilantro = for garnish
green chilies = for garnish (optional)
Oil = ¼ cup
Ginger garlic paste = 1 tsp

Directions:
1. heat oil to medium in a wok/pan.
2. once heated, add onions and sauté till translucent.
3. add chicken and ginger garlic paste and sauté till chicken changes color to light golden.
4. cut tomatoes into four parts length wise.
5. now add tomatoes to chicken, give it a good mix and leave it covered on low heat for 10 mins.
6. remove the cover and gently peel off the tomato skin with the help of fork or tong and discard the skin.
7. mix the tomato pulp with chicken over medium high heat till 80 % of the water dries up.
8. now add yogurt, crushed red chilies, black pepper, salt, crushed coriander and cumin
9. continue mix it on medium high heat, until the oil is separated from the curry.
10. turn the heat on low and add garnish.
11. leave it covered for 2 mins on low heat.
12. Chicken karahi is ready to be served with naan bread or rice of your choice.
