4 pieces of French bread thinly sliced (1/4” thick and 4” in diameter)
1-teaspoon margarine
1 medium onion cut vertically thin slices 2 cups
2 tablespoons dry white wine
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 cups of chicken stock or beef stock
¼ tea spoon salt unless using salted stock
2 ounces Swiss cheese grated ½ cup
Preheat oven 300 degrees, place bread on cookie sheet cook 5 minutes let dry out but not brown
Melt margarine in skillet and onion and cook , covered, over very low heat until soft
About 10 minutes. Then remove lid and brown onions do not burn. When brown ad the wine cook until most of wine is absorbed. Add pepper, salt, stock, and mix well. Simmer 5 minutes.

Pour1 cup soup in 4 oven safe bowls, place slice of French bread on top allow to absorb soup and added 2 tablespoons of chees on top.
Place preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes or cheese lightly brown.
