2 thick slices of Japanese shokupan bread (milk bread)
2 eggs
1/4 cup cream
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp mirin
1 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium)

Directions:
Directions:
1. Trim crusts of bread
2. In a separate bowl, whisk egg, sugar, soy sauce, cream, and mirin. Strain mixture if you want (results in a more even French toast color)
3. Place bread pieces into a shallow bowl and soak in custard mix for at least 2 hrs covered. Ideal is overnight!
4. When ready to cook, oil pan, and bring to a low heat
5. Gently cook toast until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes
