1 c. warm water
1 pkg. dry active yeast
1 1/2 c. flour
2 T. vegetable oil
1/2 t. salt
1 1/4 c. flour
4 c. water
2 T. baking soda
2 T. coarse salt

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in the warm water and let stand for 10 minutes.

Add the vegetable oil, salt, and the 1 1/2 c. flour; stir together until thoroughly combined.

Add remaining flour and knead dough for 5 minutes and then let rest 1 hour.

Divide the dough into 12 equal shapes and reform into small balls and let rest 15 min.

Roll into 18" lengths and form into pretzel shapes or cut each length in half to make sticks.

Preheat oven to 475º , in a large pot, place baking soda and water and bring to a boil.

Let the pretzels rise for a half hour and the add them to the boiling water for one minute.

Remove and place on a greased sheet pan; sprinkle with coarse salt and bake for 12 minutes.
