2 lbs. dried navy beans
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 medium onion, sliced
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons cider vinegar
1 teaspoon mustard
½ cup brown sugar
¾ cup molasses
¼ cup ketchup
1/16 teaspoon black pepper
1 lb. bacon, cut into ¾ inch pieces

Directions:

Wash beans throughly, and put into a 4 quart saucepan.
Add enough water to cover 2 inches above the beans and soak overnight. Next morning drain and add fresh water, add soda and bring to a boil, drain and rinse. Again add water and bring to a boil and cook until the beans are soft. Drain the beans reserving the liquid. Place the onion and the rest of the seasonings. Afd the hot beans and reserved bean liquid, just to cover the beans. Add the bacon and stir. Cover and bake in a 250 degree oven until the beans are tender, approximately 9 to 10 hours.
