Ingredients: ½ cup Melted Shortening 2 Eggs ¾ cups Sugar 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract ½ tsp. Salt ½ tsp. Baking Soda 1 tsp. Cream of Tarter 2 cups Flour
Royal Icing: 4 Tbs Meringue Powder Scant ½ cup water 1 lbs Icing Sugar ½ - 1 tsp Light Corn Syrup

Directions:Cookies: Mix in a large bowl or stand mixer in order, stir well after each ingredient. Roll out on a floured surface. Cut with assorted cookie cutters. Bake 5 minutes at 400º F.
After you bake let cool and frost with a Royal Icing or frosting from the store.
You can freeze dough and only make a half batch if desired.
Icing: Combine Meringue Powder and water with mixer until combined and foamy. Sift in icing sugar on low. Add in corn syrup and increase mixer speed to med/high for approximately 5 minutes until glossy and stiff peaks form. Divide and add assorted food colouring.
Note: To make icing for flooding, add water 1 tsp at a time, to thin the icing. |

Notes: We love making these cookies around the holidays. A lot of the time we will just keep the icing white and colour them with the food safe markers. This allows your kid to do an activity throughout the holidays as they don't need to colour them all at once.
