Syrup:
1 cup sugar
2 tbsp corn starch
2 cup boiling water
4 tbsp butter
2 tsp vanilla
red food coloring

Cake:
1 ¾ cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
¼ cup shortening
¾ cup sugar
1 egg
¾ cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º degrees

Grease and flour 9 inch round pan or 8 inch square pan

Boil sugar, corn starch and water for 1 minute

Add vanilla, butter and food coloring

Mix all cake ingredients together and pour into prepared pan

Bake 25-30 minutes

Cut cake and pour syrup over cake
