1 package of bow tie pasta
1 lb. Italian sausage (hot, mild or sweet - or combination)
1/2 chopped sweet or yellow onion
1/2 to 3/4 tsp. red pepper flakes to taste
2 tsp minced garlic
28 oz. canned whole tomatoes, drained and chopped
1 1/2 C. heavy whipping cream
S&P to taste
1/2 tsp. dried basil
Chopped fresh Italian parsley for garnish (optional)
Freshly grated parmesan for serving

Cook pasta per directions. Cook and crumble sausage in 6 qt. stockpot over medium heat. Add onions and red pepper flakes while sausage is cooking and cook for about 5 minutes. Add garlic, cook 1 minute, drain. Stir in tomatoes, cream, S&P, and dried basil. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for approximately 8 minutes, until thickened, stirring occasionally. Stir in pasta, heat through, garnish with parsley if using. Serve with freshly grated parmesan cheese.

This is an easy go-to meal with a delicious flavor combination. Other pasta shapes may be used such as penne. The recipe may be halved, or leftovers (if there are any!) may be reheated the next day.
