6 c. unsifted flour
2 packages Fleischmann's active dry yeast
1 T. sugar
2 tsp. salt
¼ tsp. baking soda
2 c. milk
½ c. water
Cornmeal

Optional:

½ c. chopped walnuts
½ c. seedless raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Combine 3 c. of flour, undissolved yeast, sugar, salt and baking soda. Heat milk and water until very warm (120-130º). Add to dry ingredients and beat well. Stir in remaining 3 cups of flour to make a stiff batter. Spoon into greased loaf pans and sprinkle with cornmeal. Cover, let rise in warm place for 45 minutes. Bake then remove from pans and cool.
