1½ cups of all purpose flour
1 tsp of baking powder
½ tsp of baking soda
½ tsp of salt
1¼ tsp of cinnamon
¾ tsp of cloves
¾ tsp of allspice
2 eggs
1 cup of white sugar
1 cup of sour cream
1 tsp of vanilla
¼ tsp of lemon flavoring


9 x 9 baking pan greased and floured
Oven 350 degrees F

Combine all the dry ingredients, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices, and sift all these ingredients together with a flour sifter, set aside.

Beat eggs in a stand mixer for about 5 minutes at medium high speed until the eggs are very thick. Beat in the sugar gradually.

Spoon in the flour mixture, alternately with the sour cream and flavorings. Mix thoroughly.

Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9 x 9 baking pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes. Cool the cake and frost with a vanilla or cream cheese frosting if desired.

When I make this cake I always double the ingredients and pour it into a 9 x 13 pan.

I make the cake in my stand mixer.

Cake is very good not frosted.

I stir the flavorings into the sour cream before mixing.
