MEATBALLS:
¾ lb ground beef
¾ lb ground pork
2 eggs
¾ cup freshly grated Parmesan
¾ cup fine bread crumbs
3 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup flat parsley, minced
¼ tsp salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Splash of milk

SAUCE:
¼ cup olive oil
1 yellow onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 28-oz can crushed tomatoes
1 28-oz can whole tomatoes
1/2 cup white or red wine (optional)
Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
¼ cup flat parsley, chopped
¼ tsp salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp sugar
8 whole fresh basil leaves, chopped (optional)
2 lb spaghetti cooked al dente

Directions:
Directions:
Meatballs: Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Form 25 1-½ inch balls and place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 45 mins turning once.

Sauce: Add onions and garlic to oil in a heavy pot and cook until translucent (I add some of the meatball grease as well). Pour in tomatoes with juice. Add wine, red pepper flakes, parsley, salt, pepper and sugar. Stir well and cook on medium for 20 mins. Add meatballs and stir gently. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 30 mins, stirring occasionally. Just before serving, stir in the basil. Serve over the cooked spaghetti.
