2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sour cream
5 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Frosting:
1/2 c. shortening
4 c. sifted powdered sugar
1/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
food coloring if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs and sour cream, mix well. Add flour, baking powder baking soda, salt and vanilla. Mix well. This is a very soft dough. Can be refrigerated for 3-4 hours or overnight. Roll out dough and cut into shapes. Bake at 375º for 6-8 minutes.

For frosting: Beat shortening, sifted powder sugar, milk, vanilla, and food coloring until smooth. Frost cookies. Once frosted, can freeze cookies. Place parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking.
