3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ cup butter
1 cup raisins
1 ⅓ cup buttermilk
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 teaspoons water

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º lightly grease bread pan.
In large bowl combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda and butter until it resembles coarse crumbs stir in raisins.
In a small bowl mix buttermilk and egg slowly stir this into the dry mixture until ingredients are moist.
On slightly floured surface knead dough to finish mixing. Put into bread pan and make a slit about ½ inch deep down the center. Mix egg yolk and water and brush over the top of dough and fill the ½ inch cut.
Bake for 55-60 minutes or until bread is browned. Cool for 30 min and serve.
